The Mission of the Cayman AIDS Foundation is to provide education on the danger, help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to give support to all people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS and STI's.
As several people in the
Cayman Islands were first diagnosed with AIDS, various support groups emerged. In the early 1990's, the Support network for AIDS Patients (SNAP) was established. This group then formed into Supporters of People Living with AIDS (SHIVA) to include those infected and affected with
HIV/AIDS. Essentially, the goal of the group was “to improve the quality of life for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS”. Finally, in July 2000,the group changed its name to the Cayman Aids Foundation (CAF)
The Cayman AIDS Foundation has evolved into a community based organization charged with providing guidance and direction regarding care of persons living with HIV/AIDS, and prevention to reduce new infections.
